One weekend. One global effort.
ALA's 10th Annual Community Challenge Weekend
10 Years of Service to Our Communities
For ALA Headquarters and for those chapters that prefer a designated weekend, the dates for 2008 will be October 10-12. Partner with your friends, family, peers and vendors, and donate your time to a worthy cause. Just imagine the good you could do.
What is the purpose/mission of the program?
Various organizations and communities are challenged on a daily basis - trying to obtain the resources they need to help people and further their cause. As we know, the unfortunate are also challenged - they often lead a life that not many can relate to and it's a challenge for them to receive the emotional, physical and financial help they need to get through the day.
To help those in need tackle their every day challenges, the Association of Legal Administrators (ALA) created its Community Challenge Weekend (CCW) program in 1999 where it encourages ALA chapters, its members, firms, vendors, relatives and friends to come together to contribute time, energy and resources toward improving their own communities. Join us in 2008 on October 10-12 and touch the lives of people in your area.
Each chapter can choose its own cause or organization to support, or its own activity to plan (i.e., cleaning up a local park or lakefront) and each event can last a few hours, an afternoon, a full day or the entire weekend - whatever works best for the chapter and its membership.
What is the Mile High Chapter doing to participate in this Challenge?
In past years the Mile High Chapter has partnered with organizations like Denver CASA, the Court Appointed Special Advocates, which assists children of abuse and neglect.

Here is what Denver CASA has had to say in past years:
"Denver CASA is truly grateful for the partnership that has been established with the Mile High Chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators. Thanks to the commitment of this dynamic group of men and women, child victims of abuse and neglect were fortunate to have a CASA volunteer by their side. Additionally, new community members completed training and were sworn-in by the judge as CASA volunteers. Without the generous support of ALA, Denver CASA would not be able to continue the important service we provide to the children of this community."
~ Michelle Adams, Executive Director of Denver CASA
"Thanks so very much for making Christmas and the holidays memorable for Ajenai. She really liked her red bag and called it her 'big people bag'. She and her family were also excited with the contents of the bag. Once again, thanks for thinking about the children."
~ Shelia A. Smith, CASA Volunteer
"The Legal Administrators did a fantastic job of planning games and working to make the Holiday party a very special event for our kids. As a volunteer I was so very impressed -- they DO KNOW HOW TO PLAN A PARTY!! They are a pretty special group and we are lucky to have their support."
~ Janie Cantine, CASA Volunteer
